Ouwaysiyah (Sarwa) Mosque
An interesting Mamluk period religious monument of Tripoli is the al Ouwaysiyah mosque built in 1416 by Abdul Hay al-Uwaysi. Its vast central dome is a precursor of the Ottoman period style. Its minaret was added at a later date as was the adjacent mausoleum which was built in 1621 when I’akhr-ed-Din II captured Tripoli.”
